India won her freedom in 15th August 1947 but became a republic on 26th January 1950, when the new constitution came into force with effect from this day. It is a day of national rejoicing as all citizens irrespective of their background celebrate it with great pomp and show throughout the length and breadth of the country.
Republic Day celebrations were held in Greenway Modern School on 24th - 25th Jan 2023 for juniors and seniors respectively. The school reception, hallway and the stage were tastefully decorated with paintings and tricolours. The program began with the unfurling of our prestigious Indian flag by the Senior Coordinator Ms Anuja Jaitly. It was a spine chilling moment for the gathering when they sung the national anthem along with the choir. It was a pleasure to have the charming anchors welcome the gathering, followed by the words of Mrs Anuja ma'am, who elaborated on the significance of the occasion.
As a part of the cultural program, the gleaming stars of Greenway presented a yoga demonstration. It was an exciting sight to see the students of classes I and II come together and march as one in perfect harmony, waving the tricolour and harnessing the energy of the crowd. An amazing display of Indian dance forms followed, demonstrating the different types of dances associated with the Indian history. It was with great pride that Ms Banani ma'am recited a patriotic poem from her heart on this very special day, a poem that touched the hearts of everyone present in the gathering. A function is never complete without the melodies hitting our eardrums. Further a graceful patriotic song was sung by the choir which instilled in students a great sense of nationalism and dedication towards their motherland. The program was concluded by the Activity Coordinator, Ms Jaishree ma'am, giving a vote of thanks.
