WORKSHOP ON OVARIAN CANCER
An enlightening awareness session on the Prevention of Ovarian Cancer was organized at Greenway Modern School for the teachers on 30th August, 2025. This important session was conducted by Dr. Kartikay Goel, MBBS, DNB in Radiation Oncology, an alumnus of GMC Aurangabad, Maharashtra, and presently working as a Consultant at Max Hospital, Vaishali. The initiative was held in association with Sashakt – The Ovarian Cancer Foundation, which has been actively spreading awareness on women’s health issues.
Dr. Goel emphasized the rising incidence of ovarian cancer and the importance of early awareness in saving lives. He explained that preventive measures such as maintaining a balanced diet, engaging in regular physical activity, and avoiding obesity play a significant role in reducing cancer risk. He also highlighted the protective benefits of oral contraceptives, timely childbearing, and breastfeeding. Special attention was given to women with a family history of ovarian or breast cancer, who are advised to undergo genetic counseling and BRCA mutation screening.
Furthermore, Dr. Goel sensitized the teachers about early warning signs, including persistent bloating, abdominal discomfort, and irregular menstrual patterns, stressing that timely consultation with a gynecologist can lead to early detection and better outcomes.
In his concluding remarks, Dr. Kartikay Goel said, “Awareness is the first step towards prevention. By adopting a healthy lifestyle, recognizing early warning signs, and encouraging timely medical consultation, we can significantly reduce the burden of ovarian cancer and ensure better health for women.”
