A workshop was organized for class 9th students on Adolescence issues and Harmful effects of social media on 23rd& 24th November.    The resource person was Ms. Jayshree Mehta who took up the session very well. She told the students about teenagers, how it affects a person’s brain, and how does the brain reacts to it. She told different parts of the brain like the amygdala and prefrontal cortex. The students got to know about the positive and negative effects of social media like the use of different online platforms, their ill effects, and the useful outcomes. She even discussed that how can we get rid of these negative effects like profile hacking, image morphing, etc. It was a very interactive session. The resource by way of ppt and video explained how the students can stay away from all these.   Also, she presented a few daily life examples which could help the students to understand the situation. The students took great interest and asked questions related to it. In this tech era, the students understood the importance of cybercrime and how they can avoid it without getting involved in it.

      As the Covid-19 pandemic is still unravelling, imposing travel restrictions, closure of schools have impacted the students a lot. Against this backdrop, Greenway Modern School, Dilshad Garden adopted a new approach to help its students gain international perspective and experience by encouraging virtual cultural exchange programme with St. Petersburg, Russia. This way, around 35 students of class IX from school no. 349, St. Petersburg, Russia were able to connect with the students of Class IX of Greenway digitally (via Zoom) to share their knowledge and learn from each other. During this first virtual session held on 18 November 2020, the Russian guests were given a detailed description of India’s geography, its monuments, followed by a virtual tour to the Taj Mahal and the vibrant festivals of the country, mainly Diwali which is celebrated with gusto globally. This virtual exchange programme has given the students of both the schools, representing their respective country, a perfect platform to share unique experiences and deep insights and develops cross-cultural collaborative communication without any boundaries constraints.

        On 12th November 2020, Greenway Modern School organized a special virtual celebration for Diwali and Children’s Day. The event was conducted online wherein students witnessed a variety of presentations. The event was started with the Children’s Day celebration that was hosted by the teachers for their dear students and the students were shown a child movie, Umeed, followed by a motivational and inspiring song. After that, Diwali celebrations took place wherein the students performed Ganesh Vandana, Poetry, Doha Recitation, Dance and also took an oath to celebrate a Green Diwali. All the branches of the school witnessed the event and thoroughly enjoyed it. The principal of the school, Mr. Mohit Sachdeva was immensely delighted and well pleased with the efforts of the students and commended the same

          ANOTHER FEATHER IN GREENWAY 'S CAP

          For the first time, four associations of Karate came together and conducted a friendly E - Kata online championship 2020 organized by International Traditional Karate School by Justo Gomez.

          The competition was held on 28 October 2020.

          There were male and female categories and the prizes were given according to age and belt. More than 500 participants had participated in this competition from different countries like India, Sri Lanka, Bangladesh, Pakistan, Portugal, Bhutan, Nepal, etc.

          ”Sanvi Dhyani of VII E”  from Greenway Modern School, Dilshad Garden had successfully participated in 1st ITKS ASIAN KATA Championship -2020 and had won Bronze Medal in Age Category,10-13 yrs, Female, 5 Kyu.

          This is really a proud moment as she has brought glory not only to the school but also to the entire country.

Greenway Modern School, Dilshad Garden promotes the learners' spirit to explore and discover more. Participation in the Virtual Inter-school  Atal Tinker Fest hosted by Surajbhan DAV school is another enviable milestone achieved by the Greenwanians. Students earned laurels & accolades for the school by winning coveted positions in different categories. The GMS fraternity and school Management congratulated the winners for their stellar performance and the students who won are -

            *Siya Gaur ( 10th E)  -3rd prize

              WEBINAR ON CORONA, POLLUTION AND TRAFFIC RULES

               A webinar was organized for class 6 students on12 November 2020 in order to educate children about the recent situation of the corona, pollution, and Traffic. A senior officer of Delhi Traffic police Mr. Ramvir Singh talked to students about the increasing number of corona cases because of the carelessness of the public and then he also discussed the accidents and made them aware of the current situations and challenges. He also advised them how they should avoid traffic accidents by following traffic rules and also encouraged students to make aware of their parents and neighbors to follow the traffic rules. He also emphasized that not to burn crackers during the Diwali celebration to save our environment. It was an interactive session.

                Diwali is the festival of lights that is celebrated in various regions across India. The name ‘Deepavali’ literally means an ‘array of lights’. To make the students understand the importance of Diwali, Greenway Nursery School, had a virtual celebration on 10th November 2020.  Teachers explained the importance of Diwali, the festival spiritually signifies the victory of light over darkness, knowledge over ignorance, good over evil, and hope over despair.  

                 

                Students of Pre School and Pre Primary celebrated Diwali by doing Diwali craft. Pre School students made paper Firecracker and Pre Primary made paper Diyas. Children decorated diyas with colors and glitter in the art file. 

                 

                Students enjoyed the Diwali celebrations wholeheartedly.

                  The school organized interschool competition Innovision an amalgamation of Intelligence and innovation. Near about 12 schools participated in these 13 events. The students' innovations and their imaginations were highly praiseworthy 

                  .As someone has rightly said that winning is not important but the enthusiasm and the zeal in which the students participated were highly appreciable.  The judges of the events were-

It was a wonderful moment to be cherished and to be remembered that in the Pandemic the school had taken such initiative to host the event.                   The Primary Middle and Senior wing of Greenway Modern school observed the birth anniversary if Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel on 31st October 2020 THE IRON MAN OF INDIA.

                  This occasion provided an opportunity to reaffirm the inherent strength and resilience of our nation to withstand the actual and potential threats to the unity integrity and security of our country. 

                  The students took the oath to mark the occasion and actively participated in an essay, slogan writing and poster making  They are actively participating in the quiz on the theme knowledge traditions practices and Heritage of India.

                  The celebration of Ekta Diwas taught the students the contribution made by Sardar Patel during the freedom of our country.
