World Mental Health Day is observed annually on October 10th to raise awareness of mental health issues and mobilize efforts to support mental health. To commemorate this day, 19 student counselors from classes XI and XII organized an emotional exploration workshop for 5th and 6th graders. The workshop aimed to identify and validate the social and emotional needs of the younger students through activities such as "Letter to an Emotion," "Gratitude Jar," "Worry Box," and "Things I Can Control." Concerns raised during the workshop were addressed and communicated to the class teachers. Engaging in such initiatives aligns with the global objective of World Mental Health Day by promoting mental health awareness and support within the community.

Greenway Modern School hosted a vibrant and spirited celebration of Dussehra on October 9, 2024, with students from classes 1 to 8 participating enthusiastically in various performances and activities. The event was a grand success, filled with energy and excitement, reflecting the true essence of this auspicious festival, which symbolizes the victory of good over evil.

The event commenced with a welcome for the chief guest, Ms. Ruchi Sachdeva, and she was warmly greeted by the students and staff. The celebrations began with a captivating performance on the Ramayana, where students skillfully enacted scenes from the epic, highlighting the significance of Lord Ram’s victory over Ravana. The younger students from classes 1 to 4 performed in colorful costumes, bringing to life the mythological characters with grace and innocence, while older students from classes 5 to 8 participated in more dramatic roles.  The performances included a variety of cultural presentations, such as dances and songs, celebrating the theme of Dussehra. The enthusiasm and preparation of the students were evident in their outstanding performances, which were met with loud applause from the audience.   In addition to the cultural performances, the Ravana Dehan (the burning of the effigy of Ravana) was a central attraction of the celebration. The head boys of the primary, middle, and senior wings had the honor of leading this symbolic ritual. Each headboy ignited the effigy of Ravana, marking the destruction of evil forces in a symbolic and powerful display. The entire school watched in awe as the effigy burst into flames, signifying the victory of righteousness and justice.

The event was concluded by Ms. Anuja Jaitly, the senior coordinator, who delivered a heartfelt speech. She commended the students for their dedication and hard work and thanked the teachers for their guidance. She emphasized the importance of understanding the values that Dussehra teaches—the triumph of truth, the power of righteousness, and the need to stand against evil in all its forms. Her words inspired the students to uphold these values in their daily lives. Her words of encouragement left the audience motivated and proud of their participation. She also thanked the chief guest for her gracious presence and invaluable insights. The Dussehra celebration at Greenway Modern School was not only entertaining but also educational, providing students with a deeper understanding of the festival’s significance. The event concluded with a collective spirit of joy and unity as everyone joined in the celebrations, marking the day as a memorable one for the school community.

The primary goal of the table manners activity in class Pre-School is to instill basic etiquette and social skills in young children. This activity helps them understand the importance of polite behavior during meals, which is a crucial part of their overall social development.

Greenway Nursery School organized a Table Manners Activity for its students to instill basic etiquette. The teachers began the activity with a brief discussion on what table manners are and why they are important.

The teachers demonstrated proper table manners through a small skit by sitting at a table and going through the motions of a meal. They highlighted key behaviors like placing the napkin on the lap, using cutlery correctly, not talking with a full mouth, and politely asking for items to be passed.   A few students were made to sit along with the teachers and encouraged to show what they had learned.

Students were told the importance of continuing to practice good manners at home and in other places. Students created aprons out of paper with the help of their teachers.

The table manners activity in school is an engaging and practical way to teach young children the basics of polite behavior during meals. By making the learning process fun and interactive; children are more likely to retain and practice these important social skills, contributing to their overall development and readiness for future social interactions.

ORANGE COLOR WEEK CELEBRATION IN PRESCHOOL – 29.09.2024

The Orange Color Week celebration in preschool was a vibrant and engaging event designed by Greenway Nursery School, to introduce young children to the concept of colors, specifically the color orange, through fun and educational activities. This day was part of a broader curriculum aimed at helping preschoolers recognize, identify, and differentiate between various colors, a crucial aspect of early childhood development.

The primary purpose of Orange Color Day was to enhance the cognitive development of children by focusing on color recognition. Orange, being a bright and cheerful color, naturally attracted the attention of young learners. Celebrating this color helped in stimulating their visual senses and aided in the development of language as they learned to associate objects and words with the color orange.

In the days leading up to the celebration, teachers and staff typically prepared the school environment to reflect the theme. Parents were encouraged to dress their children in orange clothing and asked the students to bring orange-colored objects from home.

During the week, various activities were organized to keep the children engaged and excited about the color orange.

Children did paper tearing and pasting activity.

An orange drink party was also organized for the young preschoolers.

By the end of Orange Color Week, children typically had a better understanding of the color orange and its various shades. They were able to identify and name objects that are orange and understood that colors are an essential part of the world around them. The celebration also helped in developing their fine motor skills, language abilities, and social interaction through group activities.
