On 25th April, Greenway Modern School organized an important Fire Safety Demonstration during the morning assembly to create awareness among students about the dangers of fire and the correct measures to take in case of an emergency.

Two of our sports teachers Ms. Silky and Ms. Geeta, conducted a detailed and engaging demonstration. They explained the different types of fires, including electrical fires and normal fires caused by materials like paper, wood, or cloth. The students were taught how to respond differently to each situation. For example, in case of an electrical fire, it was emphasized never to use water as it can cause electrocution. Instead, students were advised to switch off the main power supply if possible and use a suitable fire extinguisher.

The demonstration also included a step-by-step guide on how to act during a fire:

          Remain calm and alert.

Do not run; instead, walk quickly towards the nearest exit.

Stay low to the ground to escape smoke inhalation.

A major highlight of the session was the hands-on demonstration of a fire extinguisher. The teachers explained the different parts of a fire extinguisher, including the nozzle, safety pin, pressure gauge, and handle. Students were taught the PASS technique to use a fire extinguisher effectively:

          Pull the pin.

Aim the nozzle at the base of the fire.

          Squeeze the handle.

Sweep the nozzle from side to side.

Additionally, students learned about other ways to protect themselves, such as using a fire blanket, practicing fire drills, and understanding evacuation routes. The demonstration was highly informative and gave students a sense of confidence in dealing with fire emergencies. It reinforced the importance of being prepared, staying calm, and knowing the right actions to take to ensure everyone’s safety.

The session ended with a quick question and answer round where students enthusiastically asked questions, making it a truly interactive and educational experience.

The Principal of Greenway Modern School has addressed the academic standing of certain Class XI students who, despite receiving structured academic support and guidance throughout the year, were unable to demonstrate satisfactory academic performance over the course of the academic year.

In his message, the Principal expressed concern over the lack of progress shown by some students and emphasized that sustained academic success cannot be achieved without sincere effort, self-discipline, and personal responsibility. He stressed that while the school continues to provide every possible opportunity for learning and growth, the true catalyst for improvement lies within the students themselves.

The Principal urged all students to reflect on their academic journey and to commit wholeheartedly to working harder, managing time effectively, and participating actively in class and remedial sessions. He reiterated that consistent dedication to studies, a positive attitude towards learning, and perseverance are essential to overcoming past academic challenges.

Furthermore, the Principal called upon parents and guardians to be vigilant and supportive partners in this process—encouraging their wards, monitoring progress regularly, and maintaining open communication with the school faculty.

He concluded by reaffirming Greenway Modern School’s commitment to nurturing every learner’s potential, and expressed confidence that, with renewed determination and collective effort, students can achieve meaningful academic success in the coming session.
